Radiohead are one of the bands that i have loved listening to over the last few months. I have just recently listened to all of their albums and i have some favorites i want to talk about. My favorite radiohead album is OK computer every song is breathtaking and i adore every single song on this album. It is sombre and dismal you can feel the emotions on every song. This album has a tiny bit of kid A influence from songs like fitter happier but kid a is still drastically different then OK computer obviously. This is radioheads most commercially successful with songs like no surprises which hit number 4 in the UK charts paranoid android reaching number 3 and karma police which reached number 8. My favorite songs from this album are exit music[for a film],paranoid android and let down. I also love the bends,in rainbows, kid a and a moon shaped pool.
Kid A is vastly different from radioheads other albums it takes on more of a electronic turn instead of rock. I admire that instead of making a album that sounds the same as the bends and OK computer they completely did a left turn. Their are many very interesting YouTube videos about Kid A that i will link at the end because it will give you a greater appreciation of the album. I didn't like it the first time i listened to it but i listened to it more times and it grew on me a lot recently. It is definitely one of my favorite radiohead albums but i can understand it if someone doesn't like it but it definitely needs a few listens. Thom yorke's favorite song came from Kid A which is "how to disappear completely" which is about thom yorke's nightmares before his concert in Dublin. Its very interesting. My favorite songs from the album are the national anthem, how to disappear completely and idioteque.
In rainbows is a fan favorite album i don't enjoy it as much as other radiohead albums but i still love it. Its just not as memorable as the other albums for me. Its not as gloomy and dark as other radiohead albums which is a nice change of pace. The songs just don't stand out as much as other radiohead albums but i will re listen to it a couple more times it will probably grow on me.
A moon shaped pool surprised me a lot. I thought since its the most recent album it might not be as good as other radiohead albums are. I was proved wrong this is my third favorite radiohead album. I haven't even re listened to it before but i loved it the first time i heard it. It is a sizable improvement over their album king of the limbs. I didn't pay much attention to the songs i just listened to it carefully and fell in love with it. Hopefully radiohead release another album after this since this is their most recent but came out four years ago so hopefully they release more music in the future.
King of the limbs is not the worst radiohead album i think Pablo honey is. Although most of the songs sound better live especially bloom which i did talk about on this website if you wanna check it out i will link that at the end too. It sounds very different and unique to other radiohead albums. It is the quickest radiohead album being the only radiohead that clocks in under 40 minutes. I think people should give it more of a chance though because i was pleasantly surprised by it.
Pablo honey is the worst radiohead album in my opinion because it was way less intriguing then any other radiohead album. Its not bad though as some people say it is just not as good as the others. This album also does not have as much stand out songs or as much memorable moments as the other radiohead albums do. It does have their biggest song creep which radiohead themselves hate while it definitely does not deserve to be radio-head's biggest hit i still enjoy the song and i think the chorus is catchy with lyrics that are easy to sing-along to.
The last 2 albums on this list are amnesiac and hail to the thief. I enjoyed both but i think hail to the thief is highly underrated and i think some of the songs are great especially the song 2+2=5. This album came out in 2003 and you can see that Kid A did a great job of giving radiohead less publicity because this album isn't that popular. But i do need to listen to it again to gather my thoughts up better. Amnesiac is a weird experimental album that was made during the Kid A sessions. Its not as remarkable as Kid A but is still pretty memorable and strange.
Overall i love radiohead in fact i don't hate a single album on this list just some stand out more then others. Yes their music can get heartbreaking and emotional but dont let that turn you off their music it is incredible. The band work together to create albums that are different and unique from each other no radiohead album sounds the same. With all that said here is my album ranking for radiohead.
OK computer
Kid A
A moon shaped pool
In rainbows
the bends
hail to the thief
amnesiac
king of the limbs
Pablo honey
